Two eggs recovered from a landed nursehound

Our early morning visit to the fish market was very busy and productive. We found an interesting number of landed species – we saw a six gill, a seven gill, spurdogs, a smoothhound, a starry smoothhound, a small spotted catshark, a nursehound, a long nosed skate and thornback rays.

Our interns managed to successfully recover two eggs from a landed nursehound that was just about to be sold.   Fingers crossed the eggs have been fertilised, and  we  can support development of two new baby nursehounds to the point where they can be released. We’ll keep you updated.
